We leave Lunenburg and the haunted bookstore with its cemetery behind and head towards another cemetery, this time in the capital<\/strong> of Nova Scotia. We have a few days of van life ahead of us in Halifax<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It may sound strange, but the first thing we'll do is visit the Fairview Cemetery<\/strong>, which is home to the Titanic Grave Site<\/strong>, where most of the bodies recovered from the sea are buried. We know it\u2019s a bit macabre, and this is a novelty<\/strong> for us; this kind of tourism isn't typically our style! However, for the Titanic, we felt compelled to make this exception during our van life in Halifax<\/strong>. We\u2019ll uncover some interesting details we were completely unaware of. We then continue our visit in the city center, spending several hours at the Maritime Museum<\/strong>, where there\u2019s also a lot about the Titanic. We were able to see a lifeboat up close, view the passenger list<\/strong>, and examine some furnishings<\/strong> recovered from the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We will also learn about the disaster that occurred in the port of Halifax caused by the collision between two ships in 1917<\/strong>. Due to the highly explosive material carried by one of the ships, nearly 2,000 people<\/strong> lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the museum, we will also show you Sable Island<\/strong>, a sandbar that constantly changes shape due to ocean currents and has been the site of several shipwrecks over time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Let's move on to a lighter topic and board the CSS Acadia<\/strong>, a decommissioned oceanographic vessel that is now open for visits<\/strong> right in front of the museum. Ruggero feels right at home and enjoys recognizing all the familiar instrumentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After such a day, we need a bit of nature<\/strong>. We return to the spot that welcomed us during our first days upon arrival and take the cats<\/strong> for a walk<\/strong> in the forest behind us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
